Expert hike-to terrain accessed from the top of the challenger and headwaters lifts.
Series of generally north facing chutes oriented E/W along the ridge.
Chutes are transected ~1/3 to 1/2 of the way down by a less-erosive rock formation known as “the buttress”, where the chutes typically become very narrow and navigation can become difficult.
Terrain here characterized by numerous unmarked hazards, extremely steep terrain, variable snow conditions, and large cliffs (and that’s just the hike!).
Know where you’re going! Third Fork At the top of Second fork continue on the ridge line, this drops down to the entrance of Third Fork, sometimes you can have skis on, but most of the time you will have to hike down due to lack of snow.
Here there are a couple of ways to drop in, basically this pitch places you above the Elbow.
