Access Plinko by starting at the White Pine trailhead 4.6 miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon on the right hand side.
Follow the trail over into Red Pine Canyon and either proceed up Red Pine to the Pfeifferhorn Ridge, or cross the stream and climb into Maybird Gulch to access the Pfeifferhorn.
Plinko is the steep and complicated connection of chutes and ramps on the north face of the Pfeifferhorn.
Starting off the summit head down the N ridge for a few turns keeping an eye out on your left for a steep chute on the N face.
Descend this short and narrow 50 degree chute until it ends.
Here is the first rappel with plenty of large sturdy rock horns to sling.
This rappel is around 70 feet and deposits you on a very steep snow ramp.
Trend slightly to the right and onto the crux pitch of the route, this is a 55+ ribbon of snow that angles back slightly to the left.
Descend the ribbon and then traverse left all the way to the rocks and set up an anchor in the rocks.
Some nuts and pitons may exist, but be prepared to build your own anchor.
This is a longer full rope length rappel.
The next skiing is done on a short and steep hanging patch of snow in the 45 degree range.
Make a few turns and angle left to build the third and final rappel anchor.
This is another long rappel that will drop you onto a nice 45 degree chute that opens up onto the finish apron for several hundred feet of great skiing.
