Analysing terrain data
Ovation is a black diamond trail and it is one of Killington’s best.
To access this location, you will need to take the Superstar Express Quad from the K1 base or The K1 Gondola to the Peak.
The easiest route is via the Superstar Express Quad.
Exit the lift to the right and proceed on to Nivis Walk.
This is very narrow with a steep ledge to skier’s right.
Be kind to others on this as it is flat and there will be people looking to descend off Ovation Headwall (unmarked) coming from skier’s right.
You will take a sharp RIGHT turn when this dumps out on to Launchpad.
BEWARE of occasional freestylers doing tricks off to the skier’s right of Launchpad as you merge.
Continue and then stop at the first clearing for Ovation (upper) on your left.
Also, watch for people descending down Ovation Headwall to your right.
If you choose to take the K1 Gondola, get on to Great Northern to Bear Trax and stay to skier’s left.
Take a left on to Launchpad and proceed to Ovation (upper).
Then go left on to Ovation (upper).
You will an awesome and wide snowfield that's in full light.
Sometimes this is groomed, but usually this is un-groomed and has a ton of moguls - especially to skier’s left.
If you hang to the right, then that will be an easier line, but you will need to negotiate some tall brush.
Take this trail for a while, although it does not get very steep at all.
It is because of the moguls that this has black diamond rating.
Then to stay on this trail at the gate of Ovation (upper), continue on as it bends to the right and will dump out on to Superstar.
(NOTE: Be certain if you choose to enter through the gate to Ovation (lower), that you can handle THE steepest open trail at Killington).
A perfect advanced run for people looking for a wide and well-lit advanced trail with varied terrain.
