Awesome Mountain Biking Adventures Around Bormio

Bormio is an absolute feast for serious mountain bikers wanting to explore the Central Italian Alps.

Mountain Biking Difficult, Severe

Description

Bormio is a beautiful medieval town situated in the even more beautiful big mountain landscapes of Stelvio National Park. Bald eagles circle 3000-metre peaks, whistling marmots scuttle over rocky vistas, and deer gallop across wildflower meadows. There are over 260 species of fauna thriving in the park, and every kind of alpine vista to be seen.

Mountain bikers are particularly spoilt in Bormio and the surrounding Stelvio National Park as the trail network is amazingly extensive. A testament to its mountain biking excellence is that many Transalp routes pass through this area, some sections of which are included in this guidebook.

There are also a bunch of other great trails, most of them geared towards experienced riders. If you want surreal landscapes coupled with serious technical challenges, then go up the Bormio 3000. For intense climbs, head in the direction of Cancano Lakes. Then, of course, there is the Bormio Bike Park, which boasts a vertical of 1800m and has everything from downhill, freeride, and cross country.
