Pyramid Mountain Approach Map

A fire road leads from Pyramid Lake to the base of Pyramid Mountain, making a worthwhile bike ride on it’s own, but also making the approach for the scrambler’s route to the summit.

Description

Beginning from the parking area at the end of Pyramid Lake Road, the fire road first traces the shore of the lake, but it soon turns uphill. Except for one short section of downhill about ⅓ of the way through, it’s a steady climb in the forest all the way up to the mountain. The road ends in a large meadow right at the foot of Pyramid’s northeast ridges. From there begins the scramble route. If you aren’t aiming for the summit, you can instead hike 1 km up the creek drainage to a small alpine lake tucked beneath the mountain.
