One of the best loops to ride at the CNCPP – everyone’s favorite!
Mountain Biking Moderate
The orange loop is comprised of some of the best single track trails at the CNCPP and is usually rode in a clockwise direction, roughly 5 km’s in length. Exiting the cross country stadium riders will head west towards Banff and progress onto the ‘FYI’ single track trail. The orange loop consists of intermediate trails that require basic off-road biking skills. FYI has 3 short and steep technical switchbacks that lead onto ‘EKG’. EKG is one of the most popular trails at the CNCPP with lots of climbs and descents. The trail has a mixture of rooty, rocky and smooth sections providing riders with a little bit of everything. EKG travels through the forest and leads riders to the meadow where the views of the valley are simply breathtaking. Riders will continue on EKG through the meadow and onto the lower section. Eventually riders will approach Orchard and Canmore Trail (Green trails) that lead the rider back up to the parking lots of the CNCPP.
Moderate
Mostly stable trail tread with some variability, with unavoidable obstacles 8in/20cm tall or less. Other obstacles such as rock gullies and steep sections may exist. Ideal for lower intermediate riders.
