Darkside Lake is an excellent year-round adventure to a stunning alpine lake in the shadows of Steep Peak. In the winter, snowshoes and/or skies will be necessary, but in the summer you can often get away with hiking boots. Overall, the trail is moderate to difficult based on your hiking experience and often muddy even in the warmer months.

Description

This hike is not suitable for younger children or dogs, but the lake is a great place to enjoy a swim during the summer. A hut at the lake offers the option to turn this hike into an overnight trip if desired.
