Chalet de Loriaz Map

A real Chamonix classic, link this route into the Posettes for an action-packed day out. This is a ride that guarantees a good workout on the way up and will be sure to get your adrenaline pumping on the way down. Experienced riders used to enduro style riding will find most of the descent very enjoyable and flowy. However, beginners might be put off by the rockier sections and the tight, technical switchbacks.

Description

Follow the 4x4 track all the way to the Chalet de Loriaz for over 700 meters of sustained climbing. This track is entirely rideable so stick with it! You will eventually be rewarded with a breathtaking alpine vista. Take the chance to refuel at the idyllic Chalet de Loriaz, which is normally open during the main summer season. The food and service are excellent.

Descending from the chalet, follow the singletrack back into the woods. The descent is 100% rideable for strong riders who can manage some rock gardens and techy switchbacks. While there are a few off camber roots and some loose rocks, the majority of the trail is fast and flowy. Keep a look out for a few natural gaps and transfers. After a satisfying 800 meters of descending, you will arrive in the small town of Vallorcine.
