Starting in Grenoble you quickly leave the town, heading for the first of three mountain ranges, the Massif de la Chartreuse. You then cross the northern part of the Massif de Belledonne and carry on to the a vallée de l'Isère from where you hit the Col de Tamié and on to the Massif des Bauges.

Description

All of the serious climbing up until this point is rewarded with a long sweeping descent to Flaverges, and on to the banks of Lake Annecy, from where you can enjoy views of the Massif des Aravis.
