Approach to the Chabod Hut, 2750m Map

From the obvious parking at 1830m cross the bridge and soon rise up on switchbacks through the forest, the path usually carpeted in red larch needles. This is an ancient forest in a National Park and it is common to see ibex with their characteristic large horns. The tiny hamlet of Lavassey at about 2190m is a good place to stop for a drink. Beyond this you soon emerge above the tree line and the path continues more gently, before doubling back to the Chabod Hut at 2750m.
