Description

A route that is entirely on a single path, starting from the valley floor and taking you straight to the heart of the Tofane mountains and reaching 2,580 m, going across scree slopes and along hairpin bends. A spectacular trail on the Tofane group with views over the entire Ampezzo Valley, set entirely on the eastern side.

From the centre, head towards the Lungo Boite bridge and cross it. Then bear left, and before the car park, take the road going uphill on the right. Go up through the village of Crignes, and at a certain point, the road forks: continue uphill on the right towards the hamlet Meleres. Once you have gone through the village, cross the road Strada Statale 48 and enter the village of Lacedel, heading towards the skiing pistes that are situated right behind the houses. On the right you will see the Socrepes Baby chairlift, and on the left, track n° 403 which you should take.

The track leads you to Pocol, Son dei Prade, Malghe Fedarola, the Rifugio Dibona mountain lodge, then climbing up to the historic Rifugio Giussani mountain lodge, in the heart of the Tofane group, at 2,580 metres height. This is a very panoramic route, particularly intense because it is mostly uphill, with a notable total ascent, starting from 1,224 m at the centre of Cortina and reaching the Rifugio Giussani mountain lodge, after a vertical distance of about 1,350 m. The effort is worthwhile, because, once you are at the top, the view of the Ampezzo valley is priceless, and you should not miss taking the famous hairpin bends before arriving at the Giussani mountain lodge.
