Trail running Cortina Trail Map

Starting from the centre of Cortina, take the state road SS 51 towards Dobbiaco and head for Cadin until you reach track n° 416/409, taking it in the direction of the Posporcora Pass, at the foot of the mountain Col Rosà. Here you will be in the unspoilt forests of the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites.

Description

Going downhill, take tracks 401 and 404 and then climb along the long, wild Val Travenanzes valley for some kilometres. On your left you will see the Tofane mountain group, and on your right, initially the mountain Vallon Bianco, and then the Fanis mountain group.

Continue along the valley until you reach the gully Forcella Col dei Bos, from where you will have a splendid view: the mountains Croda da Lago and Cinque Torri, right across to the Marmolada mountain group. Carry on downhill on track n° 402 until you reach track n° 423, taking the deviation on the left to the Rifugio Col Gallina mountain lodge.

From here, cross the road and go downhill on track n° 424 and then take track n° 440 towards Cinque Torri. Continue uphill until you reach the picturesque Rifugio Averau mountain lodge, set between Mount Averau and Mount Nuvolau. From here, go downhill along the dirt road until you reach track n° 452 on your left, and follow this to the Giau Pass.

Having crossed the road to take track n° 436 towards the gullies Forcella Giau and Forcella Ambrizzola, continue on track n° 434, crossing the wild Mondeval valley until you reach mount Croda da Lago, with its distinctive mountain lodge and the enchanting Lake Federa. From here, take track n° 431 towards Lake d’Ajal, and then track n° 428 which leads to the village Mortisa and then back down to Cortina.
