This is an excellent hike if you want an uphill challenge through shady forest.

Description

In the village of Sant'Antonio take the S550 trail to the mountain huts at Calvarana di Sotto. At the fork in the road, follow signs to Sobrettorca. The path will lead you through lovely woodlands and across a stream. You then need to brace yourself for a really steep climb until it hits the S543 through the Val di Calvarana and the Swiss pine forest of Vallecetta. You will eventually emerge from the forest to see the Bormio 2000 lift and attached restaurant, where you can lounge in a deckchair, drink a beer and soak up the sun.

If you want more, add on the adventure Bormio 2000 – Bormio Hike for a winding descent all the way back to Bormio.
