Pradèl - Rif. Selvata - Molveno Map

The Dolomites are well known for their beauty on a sunny summer day as well as dressed up in white. This small portion of the Dolomites is located in Trentino - known as Brenta Dolomites - and will keep your eyes busy for a while.

Description

It often happens that these beautiful landscapes shaped by these mountains are not easy to access given the verticality of these walls and the elevated presence of rocks. It isn't common to be able to find an easy trek like this one, bringing you straight at the gate of the Dolomites playground, giving you the possibility to taste them from as close as possible without requiring a long hike with an extreme elevation gain.

Whether you are looking for a family-friendly trek, for a fast hike, or a little jogging session, but you are not willing to compromise, this route is exactly what you are looking for. The lift starting from Molveno village will lead you straight to Pràdel, where you can admire the wonderful view over the lake and the valley in the chilly air, while having a coffee at the hut. The area up there has many family-friendly areas for playing around in the forest with the youngsters too.

Following the trail towards west from Pràdel - after a rollercoaster through amazing views, tunnels, and balconies on the valley - you will arrive at Rifugio Croz dell’Altissimo, which is always open from spring to autumn. Until here, the trail is never too steep or technical, but clean and smooth - perfect for everyone!

For many, the Croz dell’Altissimo hut could already be the end of the trek and a great place to enjoy lunch in nature. If you feel like exploring a bit more and moving closer to the wildlife, with another 40 minutes hike on a sun-exposed and medium-steep trail, you will finally reach Rifugio Selvata, which is hiding in the forest on one side and facing amazing rocky walls on the other. The hut is amazing, and the quiet which surrounds you will let you take a break from everyday life. The trail is not over, but from here on, there is the possibility to reach amazing climbs, via ferrata, longer hikes, and other huts in the region - but the effort here is getting more and more substantial.

There are a few different ways to get back to Molveno. One is to follow the same trail and - instead of going down with the gondola - walking down the hiking trail in the forest.

Are you around Molveno, and you want to enjoy a fast but memorable experience of the Dolomites? What are you waiting for - this hike is exactly what you are looking for!
