The starting point for the tour is Furuflaten. You can either park at the shop or drive up Grønvollveien (just south of the shop), and follow the road to the end. There are some parking spaces here. From Oteren it is about 27 kilometers to Furuflaten, and if you drive from Lyngseidet it's approximately 17 kilometers.
From the start you follow the light trail down to the Lyngsdals River (if you start at Grønvolleien). Just after the start there is a downhill of about 30 meters you can look forward to on the return. Cross the bridge to "Lysløypa" (lighted track) and continue on the north side of the river. In the summer it can be problematic to cross the river, so you should stay on the south side all the way. Follow the river a few kilometers, be prepared to cross the river at some points, depending on how much snow there is. After 4.5 kilometers you round "Varas" at 240m above sea level.
From "Varas" there is a gentle climb up to around 700 m. From here it is generally around 30 degrees until you are at 1400 meters above sea level. As you walk up here you can turn around and enjoy the view of Jiehkkevarri, Kveita, Gaskajiehkkicohkka, Bredalsfjellet and Rundfjellet. The last section to the top is flatter.
At the top there are nice views of the southern parts of the Lyngen peninsula with, among other the fantastic "Nallangaisi" and "Store Lakselvtinden".
The descent is the same as the ascent.
Slopes become slightly steeper at around 25-30 degrees.
