Pilatus Summit Crossing Map

Starting from "Eigental Talboden" (a bus station) we run along the small village and move up to the ridge of the Höchberg. Here we find some faster trails with steady climbs throughout.

Description

We exit the woods at Oberlauen and start the big climb up to the Klimsenkapelle. This is the only section where the route is a bit technical sometimes – especially in wet or icy conditions. But all the exposed parts are secured with fixed chains.

After a scenic uphill we arrive at the Klimsenkapelle and takle our las climb up to the summit of Pilatus Kulm.

From now it is one big downhill. Along alpine streams, over slippery roots and through soft singletrack we make our way all the way down to the train station and ship peer at Alpnachstad.

All in all this is a nice Point to Point run with decent vertical and extremely variable terrain. From swampy single track in the woods to alpine rock fields you'll find everything you could want in this length of route. Also the long downhill with it's varied surfaces serves as a good training ground for bigger alpine adventures.
