Corbeau's line sunny face

Portes du Soleil

A lovely line, where hiking is needed, however this is really worth it. Significant avalanche danger.

Access is by the red slope "48" from lifts on either side of the border. From the bottom of the peak 45 minutes walking will be needed, about 30 minutes with the skins if you prefer, but deep snow can make this an hour, eventually leading to the cross on the summit. From here you go straight down the Swiss side eventually dropping onto the "Culet" blue slope. The line is about 300 m long on a SE face so make sure you time it well with the sun softening the slope in the morning. There are trees at the bottom of the line, but above the tree line avalanches are not uncommon here, which can be full thickness, sliding on grass, in big volumes. However in the right conditions this is a great line.
