5 Lakes Walk Map

If you're after an easy but scenic hike to get high above Zermatt and see the Matterhorn, this is for you!

Description

The 5 Lakes walk is around 10km long and takes you to the mountain lakes of Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee, and Leisee.

Jump on the Sunnegga Fernicular railway in town, followed by the Sunnegga Gondola to reach the start (or for the extremely fit, you can hike the 1000m up from the valley!).

You'll be treated to stunning views of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains.

From there, the whole route is clearly sign-posted and follows easy, meandering trails to each lake. There are also multiple chances to return to the mid-station where there is a restaurant and the station to get the Fernicular train back down to Zermatt.
