Hermit Road Greenway Map

Hermit Road and the Greenway Trail are the best places to ride your bike along the South Rim without the distraction of cars. Hermit Road is closed to private vehicles from March to November when the only access is by park shuttle or bicycle. From Hermit Road you can access the Greenway Trail, which is designated for cyclists and hikers only. It’s a 3-mile paved path that traces the canyon rim, separate from the road. It is perhaps the quietest and most scenic place to ride a bike in Grand Canyon National Park.

Description

Viewpoints along the greenway are numerous, but one named overlook that’s definitely worth a pause is Pima Point. From there, you can see the Colorado River far below, and even hear the rush of its rapids on a calm day. Mohave Point and Hopi Point are two of the best places in the park to watch the sunset. They are located along Hermit Road but east of the Greenway Trail.

Mapped here is the full cycling route along Hermit Road and the Greenway Trail, from Grand Canyon Village to Hermits Rest. To ride only the Greenway portion and not the road, simply load your bike on one of the free shuttles and get off at Monument Creek Vista.
