This is a popular freeride skiing route which is generally considered to be severe. It's extremely remote, it features medium exposure (e2) and is typically done between January and April. From a low point of 2.5 km to the maximum altitude of 2.9 km, the route covers 3.6 km, 497 vertical metres of ascent and 694 vertical metres of descent. It's graded 3.3 and Labande grade 4. You'll need skins to complete it safely.

Description

The Chutes skiers; left are significantly more challenging than the ones on skiers' right. They're much narrower, steeper, and rockier. Accessed by hiking Fourth of July Peak and then descending it's backside.

Severe

Steep skiing at 38-45 degrees. This requires very good technique and the risk of falling has serious consequences.
