A steep winter route up to Kit Carson Peak.
Alpine Climbing Moderate
(Many people chose to ski this line on the way down.) Starting from Willow lake, continue up to the base of Kit Carson. You will first see the Kirk Couloir on the right side of the peak. Continue past and find the spot between Columbia Point and Kit Carson, this this the Outward Bound Couloir. Start up the apron to reach the narrower section. Here the slope is generally 40 degrees. Continue up 700' to the saddle where the slope can be up 50 degrees and you might find a cornise. Once at the top, traverse right on the south face and climb over a rock rib that blocks the view of Kit Carsons face. Go up to the ridge and walk to the summit.
Moderate
May involve slightly more complex glacier hikes, easy but possibly long rock ridges and steep snow up to 45 degrees. Equivalent to PD, PD+
