Around the Mountain Map

Around the Mountain is the premier MTB trail at Bogus Basin during the summer! On this cruiser loop, you'll enjoy long-range views off every side of the mountain, while flying through alpine forests and meadows.

It contours approximately mid-mountain, with a climb to start and a downhill to finish, plus smaller ups and downs in between. Circling both Deer Point and Shafer Butte, the ride crosses most of the resorts' major ski runs and chair lifts. In place of snow, greenery and flowers cover the slopes in summer, foliage grants shade here and there, while little streams trickle across the trail.

It's all dirt singletrack that rides pretty fast, with some corners bermed but not all. For the most part, it's not very technical, but there are some rock sections to sprinkle in the challenge for newer riders.

Around the Mountain is counter-clockwise only, even though the trail doesn't quite form a loop on its own. You'll start on Deer Point trail (in front of Simplot Lodge) to access it. The other end puts you at the top of Morningstar chair lift, near the Pioneer Lodge. This is at the top of the gravity park, so there's lots of fun ways to finish the ride. The "Student Rider" trail is what's mapped here, but you can choose from blue or black downhill trails instead. They all end near the same place, Simplot Lodge at the start of the loop.

Mostly stable trail tread with some variability, with unavoidable obstacles 8in/20cm tall or less. Other obstacles such as rock gullies and steep sections may exist. Ideal for lower intermediate riders.
