The Little Couloir Map

The infamous Little Couloir is located just to the side of Big Couloir and has an even steeper pitch between 55 and 60 degrees, with the entry being about 59 degrees. This run is not even on the trail map and unlike Big Sky's other Triple Black Diamonds, you'll need special permission from Ski Patrol in addition to signing out and carrying a beacon and shovel (like other runs accessed off the tram). The process is very similar to that of S&S at Jackson Hole. To get here, take the same ridge down to the Big Couloir but keep going further down until you arrive at the last "skiable line" before the Upper A-Z Chutes. When you get to the top of the run, you'll see exactly why they make it so difficult to get permission to it. You'll definitely need to make extremely fast and tight jump turns billy-goat style to get down this couloir and the pitch is relentless. Eventually you'll join the run-out for the Upper A-Z Chutes and the Big Couloir and funnel back to the Lone Peak Tram
