Located in the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Plateau Trail Loop is an easy, go-to trail run that many people claim to be one of their favorite loops in the entire park. Though open year-round, consider planning a fall trip to enjoy the changing of seasons and array of colors that ensue.

Description

Officially designated as a National Park in 2000, Cuyahoga Valley is home to an array of recreation opportunities spread over 125 miles of trail! Interestingly enough, it also "remains the only National Park that originated as National Recreation Area," according to Wikipedia.

This corner of the park is especially noted for its birdwatching and is popular among trail runners and hikers alike. The loop is relatively flat, but it's just challenging enough to keep things interesting. Mud is possible at times, making proper trail running shoes a must. If you're in need of a long run, this loop could be a great option since you could leave a drop bag in your vehicle to access after each loop.

This trailhead is located along Oak Hill Trailhead, just minutes from Interstates 77 and 271. There is ample parking for dozens of vehicles, though some suggest an early start to your day to avoid the crowds. The Oak Hill Trail also departs from this trailhead and pays a visit to a quiet, serene pond—the perfect spot for an afternoon picnic.
