Beekman Woods Loop Map

The Beekman Woods, also known as the Beekman Arboretum, "was originally a part of the lands of pioneer banker C.C. Beekman, whose historic home is just to the north," according to JacksonvilleOr.us. "Beekman's barn and vegetable garden occupied part of this site."

Description

Beginning in 1993, locals' efforts to revitalize this piece of land turned a garden waste deposit site into the beautiful woodlands that you'll now find. Running through this woodland are several smooth dirt trails, allowing you to create an almost 1-mile loop to the top of the hill, reaching a beautiful view of Jacksonville below.

To reach the view, you'll have to put in a bit of work to climb the short but sometimes steep hill to reach the bench and the break in the trees at the top. While it might feel steep at times, the dirt trails are all smooth and non-technical, allowing most anyone to reach the view if they so desire.

For an even longer hike, you can choose to cross the road near the top and continue following the trails on the other side. The choice is up to you!
