Days Fork

Hiking Trail

Hard

The Days Fork trail is a little over 7 miles round trip with some good elevation gain through a heavily wooded canyon that opens up into the Alpine as you gain the Little Cottonwood Ridge.

This is a 7-mile round trip hike that takes you through some deep wooded forest until it opens up onto the Little Cottonwood Ridgeline. The climb is steep in places and moderate in others for a gain of over 3,000 feet in elevation. The trail is well marked and easy to follow.

This trail doesn't see as much traffic as many of the Wasatch trails so it can be a nice place to get away from the crowds.

From the trailhead, head south out of the parking lot past the outhouses and the baseball diamond. Here you'll enter a tight and steep gully on a wide old jeep road.

The trail mellows out after this as it stays pretty straight in climbing up the bottom of the Days Fork drainage.

The trail is heavily wooded through aspens and pine trees. The upper canyon opens up and there are some old mining relics clearly visible before you climb the upper headwall. This is a steep singletrack that switches back and forth until you reach the ridge. From here, you can summit Flagstaff Peak, or head east to Davenport Hill for some excellent views.
