Description

The Classic Flow is Michael Wirth's journey to climb and ski 31 of the Fifty Classic Ski Descents in one season. Check out the actual routes Michael recorded with his gps so you can try them too and use them as a base to explore your own lines! Have fun, stay safe; & use the power of FATMAP to do just that.

The "Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America" are an iconic conglomeration of backcountry ski lines that any avid backcountry skier ought to check out. These mountains are geographically unique and hold snow in phenomenal ways.

This guidebook will provide users with the capacity to take a deep and intimate look into Pro FATMAP Athlete Michael Wirth’s actual gps routes from climbing and skiing 31 in a single season.

It’s true, Michael set out to climb and ski the 31 in the lower 48, yet climate change and minimal snow in the Sierra Nevada prevented that from happening. So there are a few lines from Canada to get us to that 31 number. Enjoy.

Adventures

The Sickle Couloir

The Sickle Couloir lies on the Northern side of Horstmann Peak in the Sawtooths of Idaho.

Mount Tukuhnikivatz

This line is about skiing in the specialist of places. Above the red rock of Castle Valley and the Sand Flats of Moab.

Northeast Face, Wilson Peak

The one classic in the San Juans of Colorado just outside of Telluride. a roughly 1800' Face down the Northeast Face of Wilson Peak.

Mount Hood's Newton Clark Headwall

An eastern line that's made to go fast off the classic Mount Hood. This route goes from the summit which adds a bit more tech than just skiing the headwall.

McGowan North Couloir

Some truly stunning rocks surrounding this North Couloir off McGown in the picturesque Sawtooths of Idaho.

Huntington and Tuckerman Ravines

The East Coast Classics. Mount Washington is all about the good vibes of those who probably love skiing more than us west coasters...ha

Castle Peak South Face

A 2,000' face off the southern flank of Castle Peak in the remote White Cloud Mountains of Idaho

Aemmer Couloir

A steep, direct 1800' Couloir off the North Flank of Mount Temple
