Morocco has long been known as an exciting hiking destination which combines beautiful, wild mountains with a fascinating culture and wonderful food. These 3 summits are all good objectives in their own right but ticking off all 3 over the course of a fortnight is an obtainable but challenging goal which will take you to some of the most scenic places in North Africa.
One aspect of hiking these mountains that stands out is that the hiking is only a small part of the experience; interacting with the Berber people, smelling tagines bubbling away as you pass through villages, and passing through such breathtaking and unusual scenery are the real highlights of these adventures.
Day 1: A lovely first day which leads through some beautiful scenery and traditional Berber villages.
Day 2: After a relatively mellow start yesterday, today is all about getting into the high mountains and in position for your summit push.
Day 3: The big kahuna! Even in good conditions this is a long day, but the rewards are more than worth some exertion.
Day 1: A moderate, non-technical hike to North Africa's highest summit: Mount Toubkal.
The short but strenuous second day to North Africa's highest peak
A much wilder option than Toubkal, and one of the best viewpoints in the Atlas mountains.
