Description

Crowned "Best in the Southwest" six years in a row by MTB Riders Choice Awards, Angel Fire Bike Park is a standout spot in Northern New Mexico. With around 60 miles of purpose-built lift-served terrain, Angel Fire claims to be the biggest bike park in the Rocky Mountains. Set on forested terrain with a summit elevation of nearly 11,000 feet, and situated just below a dormant volcano, this bike park is vast, it's epic and it's unusual.

You’ll be riding on Angel Fire’s signature lava rock whilst enjoying views of Moreno Valley and Wheeler Peak, New Mexico’s highest summit.

With long, rough natural terrain routes descending 2,000+ feet, downhill racers can easily get their kicks. There’s an impressive amount of expert runs ready to challenge top riders. Rocky, technical, and steep, they’re fired up with big jumps and daring drops. But there is something for every rider; from manicured beginner flow trails, to North Shore-inspired skinnies, and huge black jump lines. The park’s most popular signature trails include Boulder Dash, an almighty jump trail, and Hungry Hippo, a black jump beast! The bike park crew are forever updating and adding new trails, so you could easily spend a week here exploring and discovering more.

If you’re new to bike parks and downhill, Angel Fire has a great beginners Ready to Ride program. You can rent a bike or bring your own, and you’ll get a three-hour intensive lesson and lift ticket, to start you off. Once you’ve caught the mountain biking bug, you can easily upgrade your lift ticket to a full day pass.

There’s a great bike shop and plenty of places to eat, but Angel Fire is quite far away from major cities, so it’s best to come stocked up and prepared. You can stay slopeside, directly by the Chile Express chairlift, at one of many affordable lodging options. If you’re looking for more amenities, comfort, and activities for the kids, you can try the new Angel Fire RV Resort, which is only a short drive from the bike park.
