Aspen hikes offer all kinds of rewards to hikers from hot springs to magnificent views.
Aspen, Colorado is known for its 4 ski areas but is also located near 3 wilderness areas (Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness, and the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness). The idyllic area is blessed with a plethora of hiking and biking trails.
For the quintessential Aspen hiking experience, you don’t want to miss the Crater Lake trail, which offers beautiful views but a relatively short mileage.
If you’re feeling creative, make a super loop by starting off on the Hunter Creek Valley trail and then connecting on to Smuggler Mountain, affectionately known as “Aspen’s backyard”.
For some of the best views in Colorado, head southeast towards Maroon Lake. There you'll find the Four Pass Loop and a hike through Buckskin Pass, Willow Pass, and the Willow Lake trail. Insider tip: Willow Lake is a bit of a hidden gem, as it experiences less traffic than on the popular Four Pass Loop.
