Description

Nestled in the heart of the Andorran Pyrenees, Grandvalira is a resort with something to suit every skier. Whether you like family-friendly pistes or steep freeride skiing there will be something in Grandvalira to put a smile on your face. This guidebook focuses on freeride lines but even within that there's plenty of variety on offer, and all off piste skiers from beginners to experts will find a few routes they enjoy here.

Grandvalira is the largest ski resort in Pyrenees and its sheer size, coupled with some perfect ski terrain, means that the skiing is exceptionally varied. Adding to the pleasure is the fact that the resort gets plenty of sunshine and you're much more likely to find yourself skiing under a blue sky than in a whiteout. This means that powder might only last a day or 2 after snowfall, but even in the depths of winter there are regular spring snow cycles, so don't despair if you arrive in Grandvalira and there's no fresh snow forecast!

The final reason why Grandvalira is so appealing is that it lies close to some other mega-resorts, including Baqueira-Beret -

and Ordino Arcalís -

Whether you visit 1 resort or all 3, that sure adds up to a lot of amazing freeriding!
