Description

With reliable snow for over 6 months of the year, perfect freeriding terrain and epic views over the Lofoten Islands, Narvik is undoubtedly one of the best places to ski in Europe. The lift system there is not extensive but it's effective and quickly whisks you up to just over 1000 metres above sea level. Compared to the famous resorts in the Alps that might not sound like much, but remember that Narvik is a coastal settlement - 1000 metres above sea level means 1000 metres above Narvik town!

From the top of the lifts there's a bit of walking required to access these lines but you won't need to work too hard, and the rewards for these brief hikes are huge. The 6 lines here are all long, high-mountain itineraries which get wild and rowdy pretty quickly - this is serious skiing despite the proximity of the lifts!

Narvik is one of Norway's leading ski resorts but the mountains surrounding it are also home to some extraordinary ski touring. Check out our guidebook to some of the highlights -

If you're still keen for more then jump in the car, head north and work your way through this lot!
