Amble through lush green mountain pastures and witness the scenery gently give way to gruff, brown, rocky ridgelines as you climb higher and higher towards snow-capped peaks. With the chance to discover secluded refuges and traditional alpine hamlets, and to spot native wildlife such as the Ibex and Bearded Eagle, every journey set out on foot becomes its own unique Savoie adventure.
The hikes in this guidebook have been selected because they all take you through stunning scenery. The majority are nice circular routes, ranging in strenuousness. For a quiet and remote route that will take you up high and away from it all, try Le Fornet, Col de la Bailletta, or Passage de Picheru. If you’re looking for something easier on the legs and with plenty of amenities on the way, try Tour of the Pointe du Chardonnet, which keeps you closer to the Tignes resort.
