A long, steady descent from Mount Morrison ridge.
3 backcountry routes to push you to your limits around the Sierra Nevada's Mammoth Mountain.
At a staggering 11,053 ft, Mammoth Mountain towers over the Mammoth Lakes area of the Eastern Sierra Nevada, California. Being California, and having a high elevation level, Mammoth Mountain has the best of both worlds: lots of sunshine and plenty of snow. With an average 400 inches of snowfall per season, and 300 sunny days per year, skiers are regularly treated to bluebird skies and deep snow. Another major draw of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is that it has an unusually long season, stretching from early November to May or even later.
There’s a mega 3,500 acres of skiable terrain to explore, with plenty of backcountry options off Mammoth and its neighbouring mountains. If you want to go for the ultimate California classic ski challenge, try the Hole in the Wall adventure.
