Description

Simply riding down the main Zillertal valley is one of the best road bike rides in Austria, but these 3 trips are - whisper it quietly - even better. All 3 take you up and into wild, peaceful valleys which can only be accessed by cars if drivers pay a toll. As such, traffic never gets heavy on any of these rides and you're not going to have a constant stream of cars overtaking you.

The other thing linking these rides is that all take you to mountain lakes, each of which is stunningly beautiful but slightly different to the others. All are part of the Zillertal hydro-electric power network and each lake has information boards explaining the history and complexities of the system.

So if peaceful roads, mountain lakes and gorgeous, deep valleys sound like your idea of a good time trial course, then saddle up and get riding!
