A beautiful forest hike with a unique character.
A selection of easy hiking adventures that all the family will enjoy.
Salzburg has forever been famous for its beautiful alpine landscapes and hiking opportunities. With thousands of kilometres of trails covering valleys, glaciers, and everything in between, it's no wonder that this region is extremely popular with people wanting to have adventures in nature.
Zell am See is on the edge of Sallsberg’s Hohe Toern National Park. It’s nestled between the rugged Upper Toern and the grassy Pinzgau mountains. Most of the outdoor action happens around three giants: the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, the Schmittenhohe, and the Mais Kogel. The town itself is small, medieval, and directly on the shore of the paradisiacal Lake Zell. You are also in easy reach of the iconic gorge Sigmund Thundclamm, the highest waterfall in Europe, Krimmer Wasserfälle, and the beautiful Kaprun High Mountain Reservoirs.
Each of the areas within the Zell am See resort has a variety of family-friendly hikes, from stroller-friendly paths to routes incorporating multiple pitstops and even playgrounds. Here is a sample of some of the best hikes to get the whole family exploring by foot.
