Takes you to the summit of one of the tallest mountains in New Mexico.
Two hikes and a backcountry ski that showcase the beauty of the Pecos Wilderness in the mountains above Santa Fe
The Pecos wilderness in the mountains above the artsy town of Santa Fe is a great spot to find adventure. Featuring aspen groves and many streams, this area is great for multi-day adventures or morning hikes. Pretty much any hike or ski can be linked with one another or shortened to fit the timeframe you have.
The best time to hike the Pecos is in the fall when all of the aspens are changing. However, fall is the most popular time in the area so expect to see more (but not a lot) people on the trails. Be sure to bring plenty of water or bring a water filter to get water from the many streams.
For those looking for a ski adventure, make sure to have a buddy.
