Description

With Innsbruck - the capital of Tirol and Austria's primary mountain town - just down the road, Hall in Tirol doesn't get the attention it perhaps might if it was elsewhere in the Alps. Hall itself is charming, with a walled old town being surrounded by quiet suburbs and - most importantly for hikers - some truly epic mountains.

We've listed 6 hikes here and they take in everything from bucolic woods to high and barren alpine summits. In between you'll find welcoming mountain huts and peaceful paths hanging high above the Inn valley.

The highlights of this list are probably the 3 hikes which take you into the Halltal - Hall in Tirol's namesake valley. The Halltal is a special place with an extraordinary history (which you'll learn about when you do the hikes) and truly breathtaking scenery. The mountains in there are high, wild, desolate and intimidating - if you're into rugged scenery you'll love it.

So leave the city behind and discover some old-World Tirol in the legendary Hall in Tirol peaks!

Adventures

Thaurer Zunterkopf

A wonderful and wild hike which is best done using a bike for the approach and descent.

Vintl Alm Loop

A long and scenic journey between some of Tirol's finest huts.
