Description

The Cha Cha Cha Ultra Trail is a race for runners created by runners.

An annual event held in Verbier and the surrounding areas during September. Arguably one of the most scenic trail events in Europe. Offering 4 distances through the heart of the alps there is a race for all abilities; 82km, 43km, 21km & 10km.
Designed in lockdown with the idea of creating something positive for local runners in the community to train for. The race was a sell out success in 2020, executed with precision and from then has grown organically. We invite all running communities to join us for a trail race like no other. Think punchy climbs, epic scenery, community spirit and an incredible atmosphere.

The courses have been consciously designed with inclusivity in mind. If you are an experienced runner and want a challenge the 82 km, 5900m showcases some of the incredible mountains in the area. You will be challenged and rewarded in equal measure. Designed to be self selecting this epic trail traverses famous peaks all the way past Champex Lac, the Trient glacier and across to the French border near Vallorcine. A technical circular loop takes you across the heart of the alps, via glacial lakes, glaciers, snow capped peaks, meadows and forests. Starting and finishing in Le Châble this is a trail race that will leave you with a lasting memory and a feeling of great efficacy.

The 43 km, 2950m starts and finishes in the valley of Le Châble. Begin with an aggressive vertical climb zig zagging through the forest up to Larzey. You will see Verbier on the opposite side of the valley. Here you are in a runners paradise. You can gain some speed as you run along the ridge high above the valley.
Take in the most insane panoramic views as you run along the ridge to Col de Mille.
There is a steep descent down into the valley through the forest. As you descend you can see the challenging climb on the opposite side below the famous Le Bec mountain. Starting at Champsec you climb through the stunning village of Sarreyer then continue with this steep ascent all the way to the tiny hamlet of Les Shlerondes. You will be rewarded with the most stunning views as you traverse back towards Le Châble. Starting with a track you will be able to run at a decent pace before descending on a technical forest track through the small villages of Clambin and Medieres down to the finish at Le Châble. A truly beautiful trail through the heart of Val de Bagnes.

The 21 km, 1200m offers a great introduction to the trail. A half marathon with a vertical climb to finish with. This is a less technical course designed to be inclusive for runners. Starting in Le Châble you begin with a fast flat section out towards Sembrancher. Here you cross over the road now in the shadow of the famous Catogne mountain. You follow the dirt track all the way towards Orsières. The views are superb and you will feel in the heart of Switzerland as you pass small villages and beautiful streams. There are single trail sections as the trail gently undulates towards Orsières. Then take on the vertical climb towards Champex Lac, climbing just above it for views down onto the lake. You finish with a stunning forest single trail, as you traverse one side of the lake on undulating terrain and loop back down to the finish line. Lake dips optional.

The shortest of the Cha Cha Cha distances, the 10 km, 459m is open to both children and adults. Designed to be family friendly. This is a trail children can run with or against their parents! In true community spirit we want this to be fun! This 10 km route circumnavigates the valley floor via a fast, fun and fairly flat course. Starting in Le Châble the route begins with a short undulating section, before the main forest climb up towards Le Biolay. The downhill trail takes you into Champsec and across the valley floor for a 2nd shorter climb before you then descend for the final flat finishing section.
