Situated in the Savoie region of France, Albertville is at the gateway to many famous French ski areas including the Three Valleys and Haute Tarentaise. The town has a long history of skiing and mountain activities. It used to be home to France’s elite mountaineering corps the Chasseurs Alpins, and in 1992 it hosted the Winter Olympics.
Setting off from Albertville you’ll hit many prime ski locations within an hour, for example The Haute Tarentaise resorts of Tignes and Val d'Isere, and the Three Valleys resorts of Meribel and La Tania. Driving through the Gorges d'Arly you’ll be at Megeve and Praz sur Arly in three quarters of an hour, and it’s only a cool 30 minutes to the Espace Diam Les Saisies and Crest Voland. Only slightly easier than neighbouring ‘Face Nord Centrale’, the Petit Face Nord offers a great alternative to the Face Nord Centrale with slightly less exposure whilst retaining the amazing feeling of skiing on this wild north face.
