5 days of high mountain ski touring in a famous and stunning part of Austria.
Although perhaps not as famous as the celebrated traverses above Chamonix, Zermatt and Grindelwald, the crossing of the Stubai Alps is a classic ski mountaineering expedition.
The Tour begins in the lift system of the Stubai Glacier ski resort and it's worth enjoying the pistes for a morning before setting off into the wilderness via an easy ski down to the Amberger Hut. Once into the tour proper there are countless options for day tours and detours and the route finishes in a particularly scenic Tirolian valley.
The skiing is never overly challenging, the huts are comfortable and the mountains are wild. Welcome to the Stubai!
