Earn Your Turns Close to Home at Loveland

Stay in shape all winter with in-bounds ski touring near Denver.

Description

As one of the closest resorts to Denver, Loveland makes morning and evening workouts possible for metro residents. A couple of hours in the car is a reasonable price for fitness laps on groomers and possibly a powder run before the lifts open. Uphill users need to obtain an access card, but it’s free as of the 2021/22 season. Dogs are even allowed on the slopes, provided they are cleaned up after. The only drawback is that uphill is not allowed during operating hours (8:00am – 4:30pm), so it necessitates an early or late day.

When you show up to Loveland during uphill hours, you’ll find clear signage and lights at the base that indicate if anything is closed, and any mountain operations that might be underway. From there, you’ll follow the markers for Route A, which marks the designated uphill route. You can take it all the way to the top of Ptarmigan lift and choose your descent from there.

This guidebook shows Route A and most of the runs that connect to it, providing lots of combinations for a ski or splitboard tour at Loveland. Choose your path based on your ability and what’s open for the day. Before you head out, be sure to familiarize yourself with the uphill policy and obtain the proper pass. Then get out there and earn those turns!
