Everywhere are small huts, where you can rest! In the summer, I was told, you can buy drinks. But there is also the possibility to get water out of the mountain fountain!

Description

Albania has risen to one of the top destinations for outdoor people. Whether exploring the country by car, bus or on foot, the mountains are always showing off their best and wildest side.

Most known or visited by many is the Theth National Park, from where you either can start hiking the Peak of the balkans trail, which is around 7-8 days or use it as a basecamp to climb the surrounding mountains as I did. Besides Theth and Valbona valley there is also the highest mountain, mount Korabit, in Albania situated 100km in the south-east of the aformentioned National
Park. It's not only the highest mountain in Albania but in Macedonia as well. Definitely worth it!

Adventures

Mount Korab

Mount Korab straddles both Albania and North Macedonia. At 2,764m it is the highest peak of both countries (and 14th national highest in Europe)

Maja e Roshit - Valbona

Maja e Rosit is the 15th highest peak of the Accursed Mountains (Prokletije). It is also called as "Maja e Roshit" and "Rosni Peak". Located on the border between Albania and Montenegro it’s a perfect hiking peak. During the hike, you can see and enjoy the view of Valbona Valley, Maja e Thate peak, Maja Jezerca peak, Karanfilat range of peaks, Vajusha peak etc. So, the view during the hike is 360 degrees and magic. You take the path to Kukaj village, where you can find the last water source. You need around 2-2.5 lt of water for this hike.

Maja e Jezerca - Valbona

Maja JezercĂ«, the highest peak of Prokletije (the Accursed mountains), also known as the “Queen of the Alps”. With an elevation of 2694 m/alt. Amazing views during all the path! There are several ways of climbing this mountain. The most popular one is this one starting in Fusha e GjesĂ« (ValbonĂ«) - Maja e JezercĂ« - Fusha e GjesĂ« (ValbonĂ«). The last water source is to the Cafe bar "Te Simoni".
