Product Manager

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders across the company to develop a compelling product strategy.
  • Be responsible for the short, mid and long-term vision for your product area, and drive the execution across the business.
  • Write specifications, design A/B tests, prepare product reports and drive the execution and cadence within the product team.
  • Be close to our customers, and use a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods to deeply understand the customer and their needs.
  • Work in a cross-functional team of designers, engineers and marketeers to develop the right solutions for customer problems.
  • Experiment constantly, iterate and always be ready to adjust your course.

The process

The first step will be a casual coffee chat (or Skype if you’re not already in Berlin) to get to know each other. If that goes well we’ll set up some other meetings with some of your future colleagues at FATMAP. There is no whiteboard test and no “why are manhole covers round” questions, but we do love talking about product so be ready to talk about your favourite products and product leaders.

Full Stack Software Engineer

To build the best outdoor map platform we need to have an incredible underlying technology stack. We are investing in an infrastructure that is built to be the best in class, right down to the smallest micro-service. We already have some serious technology powering FATMAP, but there is much more in the pipeline, and that’s where you come in.

What you’ll be working on

As a 3D mapping platform built to support adventure, we have an ever increasing number of supporting services and technologies. You’ll be coming onboard to develop these services, and to help us become the tool of choice for everyone’s outdoor adventures. You will be applying your skills across many products and services and you could be working on anything from our user API to our CI infrastructure, using the many different technologies and tools at your disposal.

Here are just a few examples of what you might be working on:

  • Building out the backend for  http://maps.fatmap.com/
  • Integrating with 3rd party APIs to import/share adventure data
  • Utilising our 3d map platform to build brand new adventure products

If you:

  • Have solid experience in one or all of the following languages. Ruby, Go, NodeJS.
  • Are as comfortable deploying services as you are developing them.
  • Know your way around an SQL database.
  • Are experienced in API design and implementation in one the above languages.
  • Are keen on automated testing, and consider code quality to be highly important.
  • Are comfortable with the concept of containerisation and have experience with Docker.
  • Have experience with AWS (e.g. utilising S3, spinning up EC2 instances).
  • Know the difference between horizontal and vertical scaling.

And maybe:

  • Have experience with Kubernetes or another orchestration tool.
  • You have some knowledge of GIS technologies.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails/Grape/Sinatra.

Senior Mobile Developer (iOS)

We are building the best 3D mapping platform for outdoor adventure. We already have some serious technology powering FATMAP, however there is much more in the pipeline, and that’s where you come in!

What you’ll be working on

As a 3D mapping platform built to support outdoor adventure, we have an ever ambitious roadmap for mobile and we need your help to execute it.

You’ll be building the FATMAP mobile app, and help us become the tool of choice for everyone’s outdoor adventures. This role is for an experienced mobile developer to come forward and lead the direction of the new native app, defining the technology stack, building rich media experiences, 3D integrations and a robust cross-platform framework. Working closely with Product and Design you’ll have the opportunity to build new products from scratch across a wide range of projects, and help build the foundation of how the mobile app experiences are delivered. Performance is crucial, both in terms of the technology, but also your own.

We’re looking for awesome native developer who is very strong with iOS but can also define a cross-platform strategy. We work flexible hours and we all do some remote work, but we believe that the best results come from working side-by-side. WebGL/Javascript/Graphics Programmer

FATMAP is expanding its development team based in Lithuania and is looking for WebGL developers to be part of the next stage of growth. Achieving huge success with our flagship skiing app, FATMAP Ski, we’re developing new products and polishing the experience for our existing customers.

As a pivotal part of our team, you’ll have an active role in helping to shape the technology, our development craft and the product itself. All while you use your programming skills and experience to change forever how outdoor maps are created and consumed.

Front End Developer

FATMAP is expanding its London Product & Platforms team and is looking for a Front End Web Developer to be part of the next stage of growth. Achieving huge success with our flagship skiing app, FATMAP Ski, we’re developing web products, account tools and online experiences to bring more of the mountains to the browser.

As a key part of our new web team, you’ll be building rich media experiences, 3D integrations and a robust browser framework for the team. You’ll have the opportunity to build new products from scratch across a wide range of projects and help build the foundation of how web experiences are delivered.

Head of Mapping – Senior GIS Specialist/Developer

We are looking for an expert GIS Specialist/Developer with at least 5 years’ experience to lead the Mapping Team, and to further develop, streamline and automate our mapping processes and infrastructure. 

At FATMAP we are building the world’s leading outdoor adventure platform powered by the most advanced 3D mobile mapping engine on the planet. In the past year alone, we have grown to hundreds of thousands of users, mapped over 100 major mountain destinations and launched our web API as the official mapping partner for the world’s biggest ski resort – Les 3 Vallées. Role & Responsibilities:

The role will be as the Head of Mapping. As the principal GIS and mapping specialist, you will build and lead a small team under your supervision. You will be responsible for developing the data acquisition, management and processing architecture to deliver high quality 3D landscape models and additional feature mapping. This will require a broad knowledge and expertise across 3D cartography and GIS, with the ability to define the optimal architecture for our needs, to determine the most appropriate tools, software and data sources, and to implement the best solutions. You will need a flexible approach, and a can-do attitude to finding solutions in a fast-moving start-up environment. You will have proven leadership experience, and the confidence and ability to develop and lead a high performance team.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Deep understanding of core principles of GIS and geo-data management
  • Understanding of Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, and the creation and use of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and Satellite & Aerial Imagery
  • Expertise in PostGIS/QGIS
  • Experience using GlobalMapper
  • GIS programming/scripting (e.g. Python)
  • Experience using and managing OSM data, APIs and tools
  • Experience in OGC web technologies and standards including WMS/WCS and TMS
  • Experience of running and deploying web-based geo software, e.g. GDAL, PostGIS, Grass
  • Cloud geo-data infrastructure architecture and management
  • Knowledge of RDBMS principles and design, and at least one SQL database platform
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Independent, organized, and able to design and architect solutions to a high-level brief
  • Proven successful team leadership experience 

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Programming experience in non-GIS standard enterprise technologies (e.g. .NET, Java)

Some examples of what you might include in the descriptions:

  • What kind of run is this? Is it a tree run, a groomer, a bump run?
  • Is this a well known or popular run?
  • Are there any terrain features that a skier should be aware of?
  • Is the run great for a specific ability level? I.e. “perfect for intermediates wanting to try out a blue run”
  • When is the run busy or quiet? Times to avoid?
  • When is the run in the sun?  Is it prone to being really icy in the morning/slushy in the afternoon?
