DEMOCRATISING INFORMATION FOR A SAFER COMMUNITY
FATMAP AND MOUNTAIN SAFETY
In our personal and professional lives, everyone at FATMAP takes mountain safety very seriously. The mountainous terrain we all explore and take great pleasure from can be dangerous and risky environments that must be respected. If you’re travelling outside of a resort or into the backcountry and don’t have the right training and equipment, you must always take a qualified guide.
FATMAP has been created with IFMGA guides, mountain professionals and snow safety experts, but is not a replacement for mountain safety training. FATMAP is a map and will not make the decisions for you. It is always your responsibility to use the information we provide and combine it with current snow conditions, weather, knowledge of the snowpack, geographical influences and your groups abilities to ensure you make educated decisions about where you ski.
If you have any concerns about FATMAP, then we’d love to talk to you…
