Description

The high alpine hiking trail starts at the Felskinn mountain station and leads over the Chessjengletscher and the Egginer-Joch to Britannia Hut.

From here the new path leads down the slope behind the hut (in a southerly direction) to the Hohlaubgletscher and the Allalingletscher.

The markings are clearly visible and lead the hiker safely over the two glaciers and the scree field between the glaciers.

The crevasses are clearly visible on both glaciers and are easy to cross. At the end of the Allalingletscher one climbs over snow and scree on the side of the Schwarzberg up to the Schwarzbergchopf. The Schwarzbergchopf is a good place for a rest with an extraordinary view of the Mattmark reservoir. From here the path is marked red-white and clearly visible.

However, some sections are exposed and steep.

From the Schwarzbergalp a mountain road leads down to the dam Mattmark. The Glacier Trail is the only alpine hiking trail in the Saas Valley that runs across two glaciers. equipment * Good footwear * * Crampons* * outdoor clothing * Weather dependent clothing: always carry a waterproof jacket with you. * Headgear * Sun protection * Water bottle * provision/food * Binoculars (optional) * Camera * Hiking poles (optional) * Map/ printout of the trail (click on "Print" to download) * First aid kit
