The rock formations are the most remarkable feature on this hiking tour. They consist of colourful, decimetre-sized, rounded limestone and dolomite scree. This type of rocks is known as "muschelkalk conglomerate or Uggowitz-Breccia". The rocks were formed during the Upper Trias (around 230 million years ago). The layer is 44 m thick, building the foundation of the Kammleitn summit.
