Already at the beginning of the 17th century the Walser settled in the Gauertal.
During this time the maize settlements Plzadel and Wachters Dieja were built.
The settlements were part of three-step farming, with the maize crops being inhabited for a few weeks from May to June, depending on the weather, before the cattle came to the Alps for the summer.
From Wachters Dieja the hike continues to Alpe Latschätz and the mountain station of the Golmerbahn. equipment good, ankle-high mountaineering boots with good profile, hiking poles recommended
