Description

This wide chute from the false summit of Mt Russell is the most popular alpine line at Berthoud Pass.

It it fairly straight forward with a decent pitch and long runout.

The wind can often load or strip snow in this area, so be aware of what the recent weather has been like both for avalanche concerns and snow quality.

It is not uncommon for one side of the chute to have deep wind loaded snow while the other side is thin and firm.
