Exhausting, but extraordinarily rewarding mountain hike that offers everything mountain enthusiasts are looking for: Mountain forest, flowery Alps, wild rock teeth, scree slopes, brook ravines and mountain solitude. A pleasure for experienced mountain climbers. Be careful when descending the Chantbach. In fog, snow or wet weather, do not climb this route! A few metres of hard surfacing in the Isenfluh area. Using the cable car Isenfluh-Sulwald shortens the ascent by 1h30.

Description

The village of Isenfluh high above the Lütschinental has been fighting for survival for years.

In the sixties, the increasing threat of emigration was countered with the construction of a small road, which fell victim to a violent storm in 1987.

Today, a new road system leads to Isenfluh, which even has a loop tunnel.

From the starting point to the valley station of the Sulwaldbahn.

This along in the little street and immediately back to the brook.

After crossing it, the climb begins, first near the stream, then along the top houses of Isenfluh in a southerly direction towards the forest.

Shortly after entering these, a path branches off towards the slope and leads in many bends up to Sulwald, crossing the alpine road twice.

Without leaving the forest, keep left at the next crossroads and you will reach the signpost in Chüebodmi.

Leave the hut on the left and continue upwards.

When leaving the forest, the magnificent view of the Jungfrau Group surprises.

The Sulstal valley's end is formed by the Lobhörner rock spikes, and nearby there are remarkable cart formations in the limestone rock from the green of the mats.

Continue along the Sulsbach to the alp buildings of Suls (to Sulsseewli-Bällehöchst 2h20; to Sousläger 1h).

The short detour (15 min) to the Lobhornhütte SAC, enthroned in the most beautiful panoramic position, and to its overwhelming reflection due to famous Sulsseewli (see picture on page 62) promises a special treat.

The wide basin of the Alp Suls, in which several little mountain lakes are embedded, is bordered by the striking Sulegg in the west and the Sousegg in the south.

The latter is now being held towards.

The path is only slightly marked, but the Alpmulde indicates the general direction.

At the hut on Sousegg (to the Lobhörnern 1h20, beware!) Männlichen and Grindelwaldner mountains are visible.

The descent into the Soustal valley turns into the Sousböden at the hut and turns around a fluvial band, along a scree, to the Chantbach (caution!).

Cross this one.

Soon you will find clear path tracks again, which lead very steeply down into the Soustal.

Afterwards a relaxing valley hike to the houses of Sousläger (to Grütschalp 45 min) and through the forest via Balm back to Isenfluh (to Zweilütschinen 1h). equipment We recommend the following equipment: sturdy mountain boots, medium backpack with hip belt, sun protection, rainwear, hiking poles, pocket pharmacy, picnic, sufficient liquid.
